Our work

At Sustainable Design Collective, we have 35 years experience in housing, designing for social, market and commercial sectors.

We can complete design and specifications for your project, guide you through planning application and approval, and even manage the build process to completion if required.

We have particular experience in obtaining planning approval in difficult applications, having obtained listed buildings conversion consent and approval in conservation areas, previously converting an old cock fighting pit into a bungalow.

We are also experienced in designing for difficult sites, where space or levels may be an issue. Our most recent social housing development used an innovative 2-level design to work with the extreme levels on-site.

Residential & Commercial

Our work has included conventional houses, conversions, Art deco and International style extensions, a listed ancient thatch cottage, a large detached Ecohome and Social housing developments making use of mechanical heat recovery.

For the commercial sector, our team has designed department stores, building societies and retail outlets as well as office fit outs and exhibitions.

Rehabilitation

Bill Brown RIBA has worked with tenants’ associations on the conversion of flats to their brief and (as Director of Housing in Oxford) enabled the first tenant designed housing scheme.
